Lenovo IdeaPad Vibe Debuts as a $699 MacBook Neo Rival
Lenovo is launching the IdeaPad Vibe, a colorful new laptop designed to compete directly with Apple’s MacBook Neo. Announced at Lenovo Innovation World ahead of IFA, the Lenovo IdeaPad Vibe starts at $699.99 and offers a compelling alternative with customizable colors, solid port selection, and flexible processor options that appeal to users seeking something different from Apple’s offering.
Design and Customization Options
The IdeaPad Vibe comes in either 14-inch or 15-inch OLED display sizes, measures 14.9mm thick, and weighs from 2.87lbs—slightly thicker and heavier than the MacBook Neo, but still impressively portable. Lenovo offers both plastic and metal variations, and partnered with Pantone to deliver 7 different color options. A standout feature is the interchangeable keycaps, letting users mix and match colors for a personalized look that goes beyond typical laptop aesthetics.

On the connectivity front, the Lenovo IdeaPad Vibe includes a pair of USB-A ports, an HDMI port, two USB-C ports, a headphone jack, and a microSD card reader—a more generous port lineup than many competitors. You also get a 5MP webcam with a physical privacy cover, optional keyboard backlight, and an optional touchscreen on the 15-inch model.
Processor and Performance Choices
Users can choose between an AMD Ryzen AI 400 chip or a Qualcomm Snapdragon X chip. The AMD model supports up to 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, both user-upgradeable with dual slots. The Snapdragon version tops out at 24GB of RAM (not upgradeable) and also offers up to 1TB of upgradeable storage. Lenovo has also confirmed an Intel version will arrive in the future, giving buyers even more options.
The IdeaPad Vibe launches in two waves: AMD models arrive in October, followed by Snapdragon variants in November, both starting at $699.99. This pricing matches Apple’s entry-level MacBook Neo following its recent RAM-related price adjustment.
