Belkin has unveiled its first semi-solid-state power banks, marking the company’s entry into a battery technology that promises significantly longer lifespan than conventional lithium-ion designs. The new accessories use what Belkin calls BoostSolid Cell technology, engineered to last up to 3x longer than other power banks before replacement becomes necessary.
How semi-solid-state technology works
The semi-solid-state power banks combine a gel-like layer with the liquid electrolyte found in standard lithium-ion batteries. This hybrid approach delivers several practical benefits beyond raw longevity. Belkin says the design reduces the risk of overheating that could cause swelling or fires, and maintains consistent power delivery across a wider temperature range. The trade-off is price—these power banks cost more upfront than comparable conventional models—but the extended functional lifespan should justify the premium over time. Belkin joins other manufacturers like BMX, Kuxiu, and Zens in adopting this emerging battery technology.
Two models with different capacities
Belkin is launching two semi-solid-state power banks at IFA 2026. The smaller option, the UltraCharge Pro Slim Magnetic Power Bank 5K Qi2 15W, costs $69.99 and delivers 5,000mAh capacity in a form factor that’s 40 percent slimmer than competing 5,000mAh models. It magnetically attaches to compatible phones and wirelessly delivers up to 15W, or up to 22.5W over USB-C to other devices. Charging two devices simultaneously reduces wireless output to 5W and USB-C to 12W.
The larger UltraCharge Pro Power Bank 10K 60W offers double the capacity at 10,000mAh for $89.99. It’s also notably slimmer than rivals thanks to the increased energy density of the semi-solid-state battery. This model includes a display showing charge level, power output, and internal temperature. Single-device charging reaches 60W over USB-C, though output drops when connecting up to three devices across two USB-C ports and one USB-A port.
