Capital B Posts $78M Loss in First Half of 2026 on Bitcoin Writedown
French Bitcoin treasury company Capital B reported a net loss of €69.5 million ($78 million) for the first half of 2026, driven primarily by a Capital B Bitcoin loss tied to a $75.8 million impairment charge on its Bitcoin holdings. The writedown reflects Bitcoin’s price as of June 30 and had no direct cash impact, according to the company’s first-half 2026 report published Thursday.
Why the Capital B Bitcoin loss didn’t stop its buying spree
Despite the accounting hit, Capital B kept raising money and buying more Bitcoin. The company raised $30 million in capital during the first half of the year and grew its Bitcoin holdings by 11%, from 2,823 BTC in January to 3,139 BTC by the end of June. By September 30, total holdings reached 3,538 Bitcoin, a 25% increase since the start of the year. That treasury is now worth $290 million, making Capital B the world’s 25th-largest corporate Bitcoin holder and Europe’s second-largest, behind Germany’s Bitcoin Group.

Consolidated revenue still rose 3.5% year-over-year to $6.5 million, though adjusted EBITDA came in at negative $1.2 million.
What investors should know about the stock
Capital B shares rose 0.5% in early Friday trading but remain down 25% year-to-date, according to Yahoo Finance. In July, the company approved a 10-for-1 reverse stock split meant to attract more institutional investors. In June, shareholders approved financing capacity of up to $120 billion, combining equity and credit instruments, to keep funding the company’s Bitcoin accumulation strategy going forward.
