HP Squeezes a Full PC Into a Keyboard With Ryzen AI Pro 400 Chips
HP has officially expanded its EliteBoard lineup with the new EliteBoard G2a, a keyboard-shaped PC now powered by AMD’s latest Ryzen AI Pro 400 series chips. The HP EliteBoard Ryzen AI Pro 400 refresh brings newer Zen 5 silicon to this unusual all-in-one-keyboard form factor, though it comes with a steep price jump over the previous generation.
What’s inside the HP EliteBoard Ryzen AI Pro 400
The EliteBoard G2a is available in five variants but only two processor options: the Ryzen AI 5 Pro 435, with a 6-core/12-thread layout, and the Ryzen AI 7 Pro 450, which adds two more cores and four more threads for stronger productivity performance. The base Ryzen AI 5 Pro 435 configuration delivers up to 50 AI TOPS for local AI tasks and includes Radeon 840M graphics, described as modest but capable of running older games. The Ryzen AI 7 Pro 450 steps up to Radeon 860M graphics, which is noticeably more powerful.

Memory starts at 16 GB of DDR5 and can be configured up to 32 GB at purchase, with the option to upgrade to 64 GB later using the keyboard’s dual SO-DIMM slots. Storage begins at a 512 GB SSD and can be upgraded to 2 TB.
Pricing and ports
Pricing is where the EliteBoard G2a stands out. The entry-level model with the Ryzen AI 5 Pro 435 starts at $3,053, nearly three times the starting price of the original EliteBoard G1a. For comparison, HP’s existing EliteBoard series, built around the older Ryzen AI Pro 300 chips, still starts at just $899.
For connectivity, the device includes a USB Type-C port rated at 40 Gbps with Alt DP support, plus a second, slower USB Type-C port rated at 10 Gbps that still supports Alt DP 1.4 and Power Delivery. Despite packing a full PC’s worth of hardware, the EliteBoard G2a weighs roughly 1.49 lb, keeping it portable. In a related development, Motorola Previews Android 15 Update and New Themed Icons shows how device makers continue to push software updates alongside new hardware launches. Pricing shifts like this one echo a broader trend covered in Samsung Galaxy S26 FE vs S25 FE: Explaining the $50 Price Increase, where incremental hardware upgrades come with noticeably higher costs for consumers.
