Samsung brings Android 17 and One UI 9 to older Galaxy phones in the US
Samsung is rolling out its One UI 9 software, built on Android 17, to more of its older Galaxy devices in the US. The Samsung One UI 9 update is now reaching the Galaxy S24 series along with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, about a month after the update first began its official rollout.
Which phones are getting the Samsung One UI 9 update now?
Samsung confirmed the update is officially expanding to devices that didn’t ship with One UI 9 preloaded out of the box, namely the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra. That expansion now includes all three Galaxy S24 models, plus the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6. The rollout, first reported by SamMobile, should show up as a standard download in the settings app on eligible phones.
So far, the update is available in South Korea and the US, with more countries expected to get it within the next few days. Samsung changed its update rollout schedule about a year ago, which is why the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Flip 8 were first in line for One UI 9. The Galaxy S26 picked up the software a month ago, and it has been trickling down through Samsung’s lineup since then.
What about the Galaxy S25 and other models?
With the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy Z Fold 6 just now receiving One UI 9, Samsung is expected to extend the update to the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 soon, though the company hasn’t made those updates available yet. If you own one of the newly eligible phones and haven’t seen the update, Samsung says it should arrive very soon; owners of older devices may need to wait a few more weeks.
